SEASON OF GIVING

On Thanksgiving Day, I completely stepped out of my comfort zone and approached a stranger with a token of appreciation. We were not personal acquaintances. I did not have any knowledge of this individual’s history or current circumstances. What I did know is that I was inspired by this person for many reasons. This person awakened something inside of me that was tucked away and I wanted to say thank you in my own, small way.

As I approached this person’s dwelling, I did not know what to expect. However, I was determined not to allow fear of the unknown deter me. Amazingly, the warmth I received when we made eye contact was so genuine and pure. The entire moment was like a Hallmark movie that gave me chills.  We laughed and had a moment of connection that unified us as people. I am truly grateful and will cherish the experience.

The joy of giving is not for the person receiving the sentiment. The joy is for the giver. The person receiving does not have to be in need of anything tangible or materialistic. A sincere gesture of kindness will suffice.

Tis the Season!
