Your photographer has been selected and the date is set. Parents, Family and Friends are ready to announce your engagement to the world.  As a couple you may choose to have an engagement party or intimate celebration. However, you will definitely have a formal engagement photo session. In most cases the images will be viewed on Social Media Platforms, Save The Dates and possibly Wedding Invitations or additional details for you're wedding.

Below are a few items to consider when planning your Engagement Session:

COUPLES

  • The photographer will only need 1 to 2 hours  (varies) to capture the day. Plan the day carefully. Once you have confirm the date and time with the photographer, ladies schedule appointments with your make-up-artist and hair stylist as soon as possible. If you’re working with a stylist, you need to inform this person as well.

  • Make-Up is minimum of 1.5 hours. Depending on the hairstyle you select the time-frame maybe the same.

  • As a couple discuss your attire and the aesthetic for the shoot. This will determine the location and style of clothing. Your attire should compliment each other. A pop of color does not hurt.

  • Discuss if you want an indoor or outdoor shoot. If indoors, make sure it has natural light. Photographers love natural light.

  • Ask your photographer if he/she/they are good at posing and creativity.

  • DO NOT BE AFRAID TO SHOW AFFECTION and the CHEMISTRY YOU HAVE AS A COUPLE! Photographers EAT this up !! People can feel your connection through the image.

  • Have FUN! Be SILLY!  Be in the MOMENT!

LADIES

  • When selecting your attire try not to select a dress or top with a turtle neck or high collar. Your make-up may stain your attire.

  • Begin the hydration process for your skin asap. GLOW from the inside out.

  • Bring a pair of flats for walking if needed. Then change into your heels for the shoot.

  • Shop early for your look. Shipments from retailers and USPS are still delayed in some regions.

  • Rent-the-Runway has designer gowns for less. They will send you 2 dresses to achieve the perfect fit. You will have a day to return after the shoot.

  • Be yourself and make your partner or fiancé feel comfortable.

MEN

  • Your attire should compliment her look.

  • Schedule your appointment with your Barber and a basic manicure. The camera picks up on everything.

  • Hydration for your skin is important. Drink plenty of water.

  • Well groom nails are important. The camera pick up everything.

  • Give her a reason to smile. The perfect time to assure her that she’s yours and you got this !
